Dr. R. David Ferrera has been a Sacramento family physician since 1975 and is the current Medical Director for Destination Aesthetics. Prior to his work with Destination Aesthetics, Dr. Ferrera was the Principal Investigator in over 100 clinical trails for the pharmaceutical industry and also acted as Medical Director for Sona Med Spa from 2000 to 2005.

Thank you for your interest in Destination Aesthetics! I have been working in healthcare for over 20 years, primarily in critical care medicine. I received a Masters in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco and have worked as a nurse practitioner since 2002. I entered the field of aesthetics for one simple reason – making people feel beautiful rewards me with the utmost professional satisfaction!

My philosophy on aesthetics is to restore a natural look, to slow the normal process of aging, and enhance a person’s true beauty. We are outcome-driven and strive to prove to people that their investment with Destination Aesthetics will deliver. All new services, products, and technology we incorporate is demoed and researched to ensure results versus bringing on the latest fad. We are customer-focused with you as our priority, today and for years to come!

Outside of Destination Aesthetics, I enjoy traveling, eating good food, napping, and spending time with family and friends. My favorite interest, however, is being a wife and a mother of two children! My husband and I were high school sweethearts from El Camino High School and have been together for 25 years. I am proud to practice locally in the amazing city of Sacramento! I hope to meet you!

After meeting and using Shawna for various services, my interest in the industry and Destination Aesthetics was peaked. I am honored to be a part of this dynamic group of women, and am grateful for all of the beautiful experiences my job has provided. Ever since I can remember, something in this industry intrigued me. I worked at a demanding salon in North Carolina for a couple of years that opened my eyes for my passion in skin care. I think it was the endless possibilities to enhance and create solutions for client’s skin concerns and or needs. Whether it be makeup applications, skin regimens, and/or facials, I was wanting to do it all! I graduated from Federico Beauty Institute in 2013 with my Esthetician license. I am always eager to expand my knowledge in this industry and bring the best experience to the table whether giving a facial or explaining a service and its benefits. I believe in constantly staying up-to-date on today’s techniques and being intuitive with our patient’s needs. I was blessed to join Destination Aesthetics as it is a dream job with an team is amazing. I absolutely enjoy my multiple roles at DA including a CoolSculpting® specialist, Ultherapy specialist, and Esthetician. Outside of work, I am continuously trying to be the best mom I can be to my three boys and enjoying any time I have with them, from the crazy wrestling they do to the sweet snuggles with me.

Janell Schroeder

Janell joined our team in September, 2016 but has been in the aesthetic field for 17 years. As a California Licensed Esthetician, she considers it a blessing and a privilege to have found a career that not only helps people achieve healthy skin but a career that helps people feel good about themselves! She realizes that the outward appearance of the skin with hyperpigmentation, acne, blemishes and other maladies seriously affects not only one’s confidence but also their self-esteem.As our product specialist and consultant, Janell loves to educate patients on the art of skin care utilizing medical-grade products finishing off with Jane Iredale make-up to make you look and feel your best! She has taken to heart years ago that ”people don’t care how much you know… until they know how much you care!” She is always looking to make that difference! When she is not at Destination Aesthetics you could find her golfing, on the American River bike trail, or spending time with her family.

Melonie Thompson

PHN, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Melonie is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has practiced in a variety of clinical settings. She earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at the University of California in Santa Barbara in 1995, then later earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1999 from Azusa Pacific University where she later completed her Nurse Practitioner degree in 2004.

Her background includes: trauma/surgical services, plastics, dermatology, weight loss, lasers, chemical peels, sclerotherapy, and injectables. Her background in psychology and nursing has helped her desire to optimize her patients physical, emotional and psychosocial selves. In 2006, she fell in love with the aesthetic industry and shortly later took certification courses. Since then she has become a Galderma Aesthetic Injectable Trainer, an Allergen Medical Institute Trainer and is Radiesse Hand Certified.

She has had hands on training with some of the most well renowned injectors i.e., Mauricio de Maio, M.D., Anil Rajani, M.D., Dr. Shino Bay Aguilera and others. Outside her love in the field of aesthetics she has two children whom she enjoys spending time with. She also enjoys dancing and visiting the ocean frequently.

Summer Dyas

I have specialized in aesthetic nursing for the past 6 years after working in oncology with Kaiser for almost 10 years. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of San Francisco and love everything about the field of nursing!

My experience includes extensive training and master classes for cosmetic injectables. I also have many years of experience with various types of cosmetic lasers. I have many years of advanced training with medical-grade skin care products such as SkinMedica® and Obagi®. With knowledge in all areas of aesthetics, I can recommend what is in the best interest for each individual client.

When I’m not at work, I live a fulfilling life. I have a 15 year old son that is very dedicated to baseball. I also love to have social time with my friends and family. I am always doing something whether it is yoga, boxing, or hiking. I try to always stay active!

Jennifer Morrissey

RN

Jennifer served four years in the United States Air Force as a LVN and continued her nursing career in the field of plastic surgery. She worked several years as a scrub nurse for a plastic surgeon, where she was introduced to BOTOX®, fillers, and skincare. After completing her RN degree in Washington, she returned to California to pursue a career in aesthetic and cosmetic dermatology. In 2013 she was invited to be a member of the Voluma® Advisory Board with Allergan® and was one of the first providers to use Voluma® in the United States. In 2015, Jennifer became one of 118 national Allergan® injection trainers. She is considered one of the top injectors of BOTOX®, Voluma®, and Juvederm® in the nation. In 2016, Jennifer became a National Nurse Educator/Speaker for SkinMedica®, an Allergan® company. Jennifer has been a nurse for 21 years and in dermatology/aesthetics for 7 years.
